Rifles and ammunition discovered along dry river bank in Worcester

Western Cape Police are searching for suspects linked to rifles and ammunition discovered this morning along dry river bank in the Nuy Valley area, Worcester.

According to Police Brigadier Novela Potelwa, the discovery was made when Police were reacting to a burglary in the vicinity.

On their way to the scene, the K-9 unit members were alerted by farm watch members of an empty safe next to the road. Utilising the Unit’s explosives dog the members followed tracks leading to a dry river bank. The canine reacted to a pile of leaves and sat on it. 

Potelwa said on investigation the members discovered three hunting rifles, 15 rounds of ammunition, a tag light and a laptop concealed under the pile of leaves.

The search for the suspects continues as detectives investigate a burglary and theft case.
